Centrally-located on 18 acres between two of the Hills’ largest and most beautiful lakes, and less than 15 miles from Rapid City and Mount Rushmore, Horse Creek Resort is the perfect creekside oasis for your next adventure.

The area

The resort is located off Highway 385, the main thoroughfare through the Black Hills National Forest, yet is peacefully nestled in a quiet valley, completely surrounded by national forestland with a tranquil year-round creek meandering throughout the property. Rock outcroppings, hiking trails and offroad trails are within footsteps of every cabin. The serene space is an outdoor sanctuary centrally-located within 20 miles of Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Eye Tunnel / Highway, and Black Elk Peak. Your adventure will also take you near Hill City, Keystone, Custer, and Historic Deadwood. Drive a little further, and end up in Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Sturgis, or Devils Tower National Monument. With plenty of trails, local wineries & breweries to explore, you're not far from anything.

Plan to stay awhile in one of our newly renovated cabins or new creek side RV sites! We also have newly installed fiber internet.

The Cabins

Our fully renovated cabins are available from late Spring through September. Travel solo and set up basecamp in one of our small cabins, or bring the family and stay in a 2- or 3-bedroom cabin.  Our sanctuary has cabins that can sleep up to 10, on-site laundry, fire pits, propane grills, plenty of outdoor space for children to explore and play freely, and newly installed fiber internet.

The jewel of the resort is our 100-year-old historic log cabin. This 3-bedroom cabin offers a genuine Black Hills experience and features high-speed fiber internet, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a gas fireplace, a deep soaking tub, a washer & dryer, and two outdoor fire-pits, which can sleep up to 6 adults and 2 children.

Our space is large enough to accommodate family reunions and weddings, yet quiet and peaceful enough for individuals to find their own adventures, solitude, and serenity.  It is an oasis you will want to return to.

Kate - Cabin 6

The cabin is comfy and has a nostalgic feel to it—love the original windows that open up to feel the cool, pine air in the mornings.

Carmen - Historic Log Cabin

Our entire family loved our 4 night stay. Great A/C during sunny 90+ degree days and the furniture and beds made the stay very comfortable. It is clear that much care and thought went into updating the cabin.
